Company history and structure
Audiences North East works with the region's cultural sector to understand, reach, sustain and develop audiences. We are regularly funded by the Arts Council, and generate further income by delivering a range of consultancy services and operating a subscription scheme.
The organisation was set up to provide strategic support to the cultural sector, in a region where unprecedented investment in culture and the arts has changed the landscape for good, and created huge challenges and opportunities for both audiences and cultural providers.
ANE is a registered company limited by guarantee (Registered Company Number: 05041634) and a registered charity (Registered Charity Number: 1104394).
ANE’s Board of Trustees is drawn from representatives of the cultural sector with a minimum number of four and a maximum of 14. It also has a Finance & General Purposes Committee (F&GP) which comprises a subset of the Board. The Board is led by the Chair assisted by the Vice Chair. F&GP has a separate Chair.
ANE was incorporated on 11 February 2004. In April 2006 ANE launched its membership scheme which has grown year on year and now consists of 45 members representing 68 venues throughout the North East.
Any organisation working in the cultural fields of arts, media, museums, heritage and libraries is eligible to apply for membership.
