Shift Happens in digital technology.  What do these changes mean for the artistic and creative process?  What role can technology play in audience development?  Are you concerned it will all be time consuming, expensive or difficult?  Shift Happens looks at the potential of technology for arts organisations.

"The Met's experiment of merging film with live performance has created a new art form," said the Los Angeles Times of the groundbreaking series of live, high-definition performance transmissions to cinemas and movie theatres around the world. Julie Borchard-Young from the Met Opera in New York will give an overview of the Live in HD Programme, which has attracted almost 1 million visitors to date

Dr Tom Fleming author of ‘The case for ‘mixed art-form and media venues’ in the digital age’ – will explore the role of the ‘bricks and mortar’ infrastructure in a digital context.

·       Hannah Rudman will look at the socio-economic changes that the impact of technology has caused, and how businesses and the arts sector have responded.  She will also look at case studies from arts and cultural organisations which have "got digital". How have they changed?

Artist Kit Monkman will look at how digital innovation has impacted on the creation of work and the way in which audiences experience this work

New media pioneer Bill Thompson will outline the trends that seem likely to persist and look forward to supercomputers in your pocket and intelligent contact lenses.

Dr Ben Todd will give an overview of London-based Arcola Theatre's aim of becoming the world's first carbon neutral theatre.

Shift Happens will be chaired by Dave Moutrey, Director of Cornerhouse in Manchester.
