Equality and Diversity in the North East: a statistical profile

Tuesday 19 August, 2008

The North East Regional Information Partnership has recently published ‘Equality and Diversity in the North East: a statistical profile’. Describing the numbers of people in a variety of population groups in the North East, and the issues they face, this report has been written by Amy O’Donnell and a team at Northumbria University on behalf of the North East Equality and Diversity Partnership (NEEDP). The report aims to provide a backdrop for the preparation of policy relating to equality and diversity.

The report draws on a vast number of national and regional sources, enabling it to present statistical information about each of twelve identified population groups. It also describes the issues each group faces with regard to employment, crime and safety, education and skills, social capital, health and social care, housing and transport. The report concludes with a series of recommendations to improve the availability and quality of data relating to equality and diversity in the North East.

You can download the report here.

The report is being launched with a day long seminar on 29 September 2008 at the Centre for Life in Newcastle. For more information and to book your free place, click here.
